In 1973, the Music In Our Schools celebration was initiated by the Music Educators National Conference (MENC). MENC, now the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), expanded this celebration of musical education to encompass the entire month of March in 1985.

Why Is Musical Education So Important?

Music In Our Schools Month® reminds us of all the positive impacts musical education has on our children. Learning music has been proven to positively affect academic abilities and self-confidence while teaching children important life skills such as patience and perseverance.

You can learn more about how music benefits children by reading a couple of our previous articles:

Continuing Your Musical Education

Musical education is and continues to be an integral aspect of a well-rounded academic experience. Unfortunately, many schools have had to pause their music programs due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Fortunately, the professional music teachers at Jimmy Osborne Music are here to help ensure your child’s musical abilities continue to flourish!

Our music instructors can teach any and all skill levels; whether you are learning how to play music for the first time or continuing your musical education. Contact us today to register for your first (FREE!) music lesson.
